The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct hazard reduction burns in Goobang National Park from tomorrow, Thursday 14 May, weather permitting.
- A 1443-hectare burn of Spring Gully, south of Renshaw McGirr Way.
- A 2710-hectare burn of the Rocky Ponds, Currumbenya, near Henry Parkes Way.
These burns aim to significantly reduce overall fuel loads by targeting ground and shrub fuels across both areas, lowering fuel hazard levels and reducing fire risk.
The works are also designed to protect biodiversity values and the surrounding grazing country.
Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and are advised to take care if visibility is reduced by smoke and to follow any signs.
