Hazard reduction burn in Nattai National Park

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct a three-day hazard reduction burn in Nattai National Park beginning Friday 11 August 2023, weather permitting.

Treachery Beach hazard reduction burn

The planned burn will treat approximately 100 hectares in the Wombeyan Caves Road – Bullio Tunnel area.

The burn will reduce naturally accumulated fuel loads, protect powerlines and other infrastructure including the nearby rural residential areas of Bullio, Wanganderry and Wombeyan Caves Rd.

NPWS crews will be assisted by the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Mop up and patrol is expected to continue for 2 days after the burn.

A small section of Nattai National Park will be closed during the burning operation. Visitors should check NPWS Alerts for up-to-date information on closures.

Smoke may be visible along Wombeyan Caves Rd, Woodlands, the Bullio Valley and at Mittagong. Motorists are advised to use caution and drive to conditions.

Anyone vulnerable to smoke is encouraged to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed to reduce any possible exposure.
