Head to Alex Skate Park for Branch Nebula’s breath-taking, street-style performance at Horizon Festival

Calling all skaters, bmxers and scooter riders – get your wheels down to Alex Heads Skate Park from tomorrow for Snake Sessions during Horizon Festival

– an epic mash up of theatre, dance, sport and street-styles.

Presented by Sydney company Branch Nebula, the Snake Sessions crew of professional skaters, BMX riders, dancers and parkourists will be jamming moves and tricks with locals from Tuesday to Saturday (27-31 Aug) to build up for a spectacular improvised performance on Saturday afternoon.

With a live drummer driving the action, bodies and wheels collide, race each other, and blur into one.

Branch Nebula co-creator Lee Wilson said Snake Sessions brought an audience to a skate park to share an experience of urban culture.

“With Snake Sessions we build a performance that responds to who is in the space, the elements and challenges of each skate park,” Lee said.

“The specific training of our street-style artists enables them to perform with acute responsiveness to the site, the local skate park users and the music.

“The final performance is spontaneous and captures the spirit of what street-styles are all about, anarchic, inter-generational, fun, inspiring and created in the moment.”

Divisional councillor John Connolly said Snake Sessions would be a great event for the hundreds of local skate park users to get involved in.

“We’re looking forward to the Snake Sessions crew hitting our skate park this week,” Cr Connolly said.

“I’m sure they will love the features of our skate park and I can’t wait to see how they engage with the locals and put it all together in the performance on Saturday 31 August.”

To get involved just drop into the skate park during any session.
