Health consumer advocate joins Metro South Hospital and Health Board

A strong advocate for health consumers has joined the Metro South Hospital and Health Board as its newest member.

Matthew Ames has been appointed to the 10-person board, while existing member Dr Helen Benham has been reappointed for a four-year term.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said Mr Ames currently serves on the boards of Hear and Say (supporting the needs of children and adults impacted by hearing loss), Centacare Brisbane, Xavier Children’s Support Network, and Bionics Queensland as well as being a consumer advocate for various committees managed by Queensland Health.

“I’d like to welcome Mr Ames to the Metro South Hospital and Health Board,” Ms D’Ath said.

“Mr Ames has demonstrated a passion for providing a voice for health consumers to help Queenslanders and is a welcome addition to the Metro South Hospital and Health Board.

“I am confident Mr Ames’ insight and experience will be valuable in ensuring residents in Brisbane’s south continue to receive high quality health care services.”
