Heart Foundation Chair, Chris Leptos AM, and Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Executive Director and former Heart Foundation executive, Kerry Doyle PSM, have been duly recognised in Queens Birthday honours this year for their outstanding contributions to the heart health of Australians.

Healthcare and medical research professionals have become more visible in the public eye during the pandemic but their contributions to a healthy Australia have often spanned many decades and areas of speciality.

Mr Leptos has been chair of the Heart Foundation since 2018. This Queen’s Birthday, he was named an Officer (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to the not-for-profit sector through leadership and philanthropic support, to the public sector, and to education. This year’s honour is the second Mr Leptos has received, having been named a Member of the Order of Australia in 2000.

Ms Doyle was formerly a senior leader with the Heart Foundation and is currently the Executive Director of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance. She was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for distinguished service and ongoing support in the area of medical research as well as her work with the Cambodian Children’s Fund.

Heart Foundation CEO David Lloyd congratulated Mr Leptos and Ms Doyle on their honours, and added that he was pleased to see health and medical professionals recognised for their efforts.

“The cardiovascular sector is very fortunate to have such experienced leaders in Chris Leptos AM and Kerry Doyle PSM, and it comes as no surprise to us that they have received these honours,” Mr Lloyd said.

As the custodian of Australia’s heart health and advocate for more investment in research and preventative healthcare, the Heart Foundation is pleased to see the extraordinary careers of our sector’s health and medical professionals recognised.

Other notable healthcare and medical professionals to receive honours this Queen’s Birthday included 92 professionals involved in Australia’s COVID-19 response.
