Dear friends and supporters
I am truly honoured to have started work today as Chief Executive Officer of the Heart Foundation – one of Australia’s most recognised and respected organisations.
Few organisations can say they have improved the lives of so many Australians year on year, for more than 60 years, through ground-breaking research, prevention and care initiatives.
These initiatives are important because they have given Australians what we all hope for: more time to enjoy friendships, families and life in general.
The responsibility of continuing this legacy now falls to me, but I know I won’t be alone on the journey.
I have already had the absolute pleasure of meeting some of our staff, volunteers, community fundraisers and our partners in the sector – and I am inspired by their combined enthusiasm and sense of optimism about what we can achieve by working together to promote heart health.
There has never been a greater need for an organisation like ours, with many Australians seeking to lead heart-healthy lives.
I would like to thank Professor Garry Jennings AO for his time as Interim Group CEO, and I am delighted to let you know that Garry has agreed to stay with us in his substantive role as Chief Medical Adviser.
