Heart Research Institute presents at ISTH 2019

HRI was strongly represented at the recent International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress.

Held in Melbourne over July 6 – 10, the ISTH 2019 Congress brought together leading experts on thrombosis, haemostasis and vascular biology from all over the world to present the most recent advances, exchange the latest science and discuss the newest clinical applications designed to improve patient care.

Professor Shaun Jackson, Director of Cardiovascular Research at HRI, was a keynote speaker at the Platelet and Thrombosis Symposium, organised by the committee for the Chinese Symposium for Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

Researchers from HRI’s Thrombosis and Haematology Research Groups also gave several stimulating oral presentations:

  • Dr Lining (Arnold) Ju – Novel Single Cell Mechanobiology Approach Reveals an Intermediate State of Integrin αIIbβ3 that Mediates Platelet Aggregation under Blood Flow Disturbance
  • Dr Angelina Lay – Platelet Deficiency of ERp5 is Compensated for by Increased Levels of ERp57 and PDI
  • Ms Jessica Maclean – Investigation of Recanalization and Cerebral Perfusion with Adjunctive Thrombolytic Therapies in the iCAT Mouse Model of Ischemic Stroke
  • Dr Mike Wu – Distinct Spatiotemporal Thrombotic Mechanisms Promote Microvascular Obstruction during IR Injury

HRI’s Professor Shaun Jackson, Associate Professor Simone Schoenwaelder, Dr Freda Passam, Dr Yuping Yuan, Dr Lining (Arnold) Ju and Dr Mike Wu also co-chaired sessions throughout the congress.
