Help Council pick the right path for Lennox Head: Ballina Shire

Help Council pick the right path for Lennox Head

Ballina Shire Council is inviting residents to have their say on the preferred route for a new Shared Path between Park Lane and Cooper Close, Lennox Head.

Four shared path options have been identified. While each alignment has its own characteristics, all options begin at Park Lane and extend to the Fig Tree Hill Drive/Ross Lane intersection.

“The proposed Shared Path will improve connectivity between the Lennox Head town centre and outlying residential areas such as Sanctuary Village and Fig Tree Hill Drive, while also improving cyclist and pedestrian safety,” said Council’s Manager Engineering Works, Paul Busmanis.

“We’ve been fortunate to receive co-funding from the NSW Government to prepare a detailed design and obtain planning approvals for this project.”

The works are identified in Council’s Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (2018) and Bike Plan (2017).

Council has also received NSW Government funding to construct a pedestrian refuge at the intersection of Fig Tree Hill Drive and Ross Lane, which will provide an essential connection point for the proposed Shared Path. This pedestrian refuge is planned for construction in the 2023/24 financial year.

The design of the Shared Path and construction of the pedestrian refuge are funded through Transport for NSW’s Get NSW Active Program.

Submissions close Friday 1 September 2023.
