Help give everyone a Happy Christmas with Mayors Giving Tree

Shellharbour City Council is asking residents to share Christmas joy with disadvantaged families by donating gifts and vouchers to the Mayor’s Giving Tree Appeal.

For more than two decades, Shellharbour residents have helped hundreds of disadvantaged families celebrate Christmas.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that each year she is immensely proud of the community’s willingness to support those in difficult circumstances.

“For some people in our community, providing their family with a meaningful Christmas can be unattainable on top of daily struggles to meet living expenses,” Cr Saliba said.

“In fact, in almost every school there will be students who will not truly enjoy a happy Christmas unless they receive help from our caring community,” she said.

The St Vincent de Paul Society has previously distributed many donated gifts and vouchers to families in need.

Simply leave unwrapped gifts in the box next to the Christmas tree in the Shellharbour Civic Centre foyer.

If you would prefer to donate a gift voucher, please send it to Shellharbour City Council Mayor’s Giving Tree, care of Jo Frasca, Locked Bag 155 Shellharbour City Centre NSW 2529.

Residents are encouraged to donate gifts before Monday, 9 December so volunteers have time to sort, wrap and distribute to families by Christmas.
