Help shape City of Stonnington’s budget for 2022-23

The City of Stonnington is seeking community input to help shape our 2022-23 annual budget.

This year, a new online simulation tool has been setup to better explain the budget planning process and more effectively involve our community in shaping our priorities.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Jami Klisaris, believes it’s vital to get community input at the early stages of formulating the budget.

“Our annual budget makes day-to-day life in Stonnington possible, funding services like roads, open space, waste and recycling, animal management, maternal and child health, aged services and early education, among many other things.

“This is a new style of budget engagement for the City of Stonnington. We’re making it easier for people to understand the services and projects we provide and asking them to let us know how we should prioritise where we’re spending the community’s money.

“This includes providing input on how we should prioritise projects within our longer term Council plan like installing bicycle infrastructure, acquiring properties to create open space and creating accessible infrastructure for our local sporting clubs.

“There’s also the chance to provide feedback on prioritising funding on the services we provide like traffic and parking, early education or our parks and gardens.

“We know that people want to be able to provide input into how their Council makes decisions, so I’m really excited about how easy this new budget simulation tool makes it for our residents, businesses and community to do this.

“I encourage everyone to spend some time to get to know our budget planning process and provide feedback on what we should be prioritising next year. Your Councillors will be using what you say to shape the final budget,” said Cr Klisaris.

Access the budget simulators on our Connect Stonnington engagement platform, feedback closes 20 January 2022.

Information provided will be reviewed alongside feedback gathered through other recent engagement projects to help us effectively prioritise the services and projects that we provide to the community.
