Help shape local mobility and road safety strategy

Macedon Ranges Shire Council is seeking community input to help develop a Mobility and Road Safety Strategy that will guide the implementation of road safety programs within the shire. The 10-year strategy will use the ‘Safe System’ approach using data, research, education and information to set the framework for reducing death and serious injury on our roads.

Council’s Director Assets and Operations, Shane Walden said this initial consultation stage will help gauge an understanding of people’s current road safety and mobility concerns or themes across our shire.

“We want to understand how we can improve our road and path networks so that people can travel safely and easily around the shire.

“Please take a few minutes to share your ideas about how we can improve our road and path networks so that residents and visitors of all ages and abilities can travel safely and easily around the Macedon Ranges,” he said.

The key objectives of the strategy will support the creation of a community in which:

  • People of all ages and abilities can achieve optimal health and wellbeing
  • Active mobility is prioritised
  • There is equity of access and opportunity
  • Mobility protects and enhances the natural environment (including wildlife)
  • People can access locations in a safe and timely manner
  • Everyone can share in the region’s economic vitality
