Help someone stay warm and dry this winter

Something as simple as a pair of new socks can make a huge difference to someone sleeping rough.

During Homelessness Week 7-13 August 2023, we will be asking the community to donate new socks, jocks or beanies for our outreach services to distribute to people sleeping rough in Stonnington.

The theme of this year’s Homelessness Week is ‘It’s time to end homelessness’ and the aim is to raise awareness about what is often a hidden crisis.

At Stonnington, we have partnered with Launch Housing, Alfred Health, Better Health Network (formerly Star Health), Housing First, Prahran Malvern Community Housing and Victoria Police to end rough sleeping homelessness through Stonnington Zero.

The Zero approach involves identifying all people sleeping rough by name, building rapport, assessing needs and providing support to find long-term housing.

Homelessness can affect anyone and can be caused by a variety of complex issues including family violence, loss of employment, family / relationship breakdown, poor mental health, and lack of affordable housing.

Donating needed items is a practical way to help people experiencing homelessness in Stonnington.
