Help your local community shape its future

Group of people attending a community workshop

Are you an active member of your local community? Are you looking for a way to contribute to the future of your community? And learn new skills in community development?

Shoalhaven City Council is looking for members of the Bomaderry, Sanctuary Point and Orient Point communities to help understand the local community needs within each location.

Council is offering training to help you:

  • build the skills and tools to talk with members of their community to find out what they need and want

  • find out what is working well and where the strengths of your community lie.

The training is in Asset Based Community Development and Community Conversations.

Following the training, we will work with you to build a picture of your local community. This information will assist Council to develop three separate community needs assessment documents (one for each location) to inform its’ Community Strategic Plan. These plans will inform future planning within your community.

A separate training session will be run in each location in early 2021.

The program is part of the Building Better Future’s initiative, funded by the Federal Government and Council to drive future community development within the Shoalhaven.

To register your interest, complete the online form or call Community Development Officer, Hayden Fineran on (02) 4429 3411.
