Here’s our guide to planning your visit to Culture Mix – Wollongong

When and where is the event held?

Saturday 21 October, from 12noon to 8pm. It’s across various locations in the Wollongong CBD including Lower Crown Street and Mall, Wollongong Town Hall, The Arts Precinct, Wollongong Library and Wollongong Art Gallery.

Is it really free?

Yes! The event and activities are free.

You’ll want to bring money for food. Trust us, there will be loads of yummy food stalls to check out. There’s also a cultural marketplace with stallholders you may wish to support.

Who is this event for?

Culture Mix is an inclusive event, open to people from all backgrounds, ages and abilities.

Where can I find the event program?

Download a copy of the program here ahead of time to get a taste for the event. There’s loads to see and do including creative workshops, performances, dance classes, music, cooking demonstrations and art installations.

1. Celebration Stage – Arts Precinct

This is the central performance stage where attendees can watch and dance along to performances.

2. Global Kitchen – Service NSW Forecourt, 90 Lower Crown Street

Learn how to make a famous cultural dish such as Fresh Rice Paper Rolls, Persian Kebabs, Sticky Rice and Banana, Serbian Cevapi and South American Asado.

3. Food Fair – Lower Crown Street

Hungry? This is the perfect place to pick up lunch, dinner or just a snack (or treat!), with authentic cultural food from around the world.

4. Culture Mix Bazaar – Lower Mall & Lower Crown Street

Journey through a cultural marketplace featuring stalls from diverse multicultural backgrounds.

5. Wollongong Library workshops – Wollongong Library, 41 Burelli Street

Check out the Korean Haenyeo Show, K-Pop dance, Indigenous weaving, and Japanese Taiko workshops.

6. Wollongong Gallery – Wollongong Art Gallery, Level 4 Education Room

Participate in a free Chinese watercolour workshop or Islamic tile art activity. This is for people of all ages and is kid friendly.
