Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of designer handbags from a hotel in the CBD this month.
It’s believed an unknown male has entered the hotel on Little Collins Street about 4pm on 14 July.
The man used a swipe card in the lift and selected all floors, eventually gaining access to a privately owned apartment on one of the higher floors.
He was in the apartment for about 30 minutes before leaving with a small suit case and large cardboard box filled with designer bags worth an estimated $200,000.
He got back into the lift and left the building via Coates Lane.
The man struggled with the box, dropping some of the bags onto the street, before getting into a taxi and fleeing the scene.
Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
