Police have charged a 61-year-old Kalbar man following an alleged high-range drink driving offence in Kalbar on 27 June.
Around 2.45pm officers intercepted a 2019 Kia Cerato in a hotel car park on George Street, subjecting the driver to a roadside breath test (RBT).
The driver was subsequently transported to Boonah Station for further testing, where it is alleged he recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.305 per cent – more than five times the legal limit.
The 61-year-old Kalbar man was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.
He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 15 July.
The detection forms part of Operation Cold Snap a high visibility road safety operation running throughout the June/July school holidays.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on our roads.
As part of Operation Interpose, police are bolstering high-visibility patrols right across the state, engaging with road users and enforcing the laws to deter dangerous driving behaviours.
Queenslanders can expect police – anywhere, anytime. However, enforcement alone cannot stop all dangerous driving behaviours.
Driving under the influence, speeding, driving distracted or while fatigued, or not wearing a seatbelt puts your life – and the lives of others – at serious risk. These dangerous behaviours will not be tolerated.
Road safety starts with you.
