High Range Speeding Offence in Samford Valley, QLD

A motorbike rider being pulled over by police.

A 39-year-old Samford Valley man has been fined and had his licence suspended after allegedly being detected driving at nearly double the speed limit in Samford Valley on 3 June.

Officers from Road Policing Task Force were conducting mobile patrols in Samford Valley about 7.15am, when they observed a motorcycle on Gibbons Road travelling at 119km/h, 59km/h over the signed 60km/h speed limit.

The rider was issued with high-speed traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, carrying a penalty of eight demerit points and a $1,919 fine. He also received a six-month licence suspension for the offence.

Road Policing Task Force Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Paul Kelly said speeding remains a prevalent factor in serious and fatal road crashes.

“Driving at such high speeds leaves no margin for error – a moment of distraction can have catastrophic consequences not just for the driver, but for other road users,” Senior Sergeant Kelly said.

“Excessive speed is one of the leading contributors to serious and fatal crashes, and this behaviour is not tolerated.

“Our officers are out every day targeting high‑risk driving, and if you choose to speed, you can expect to be caught and face significant penalties.
