High speed motorbike rider in hills

A “P” plate motorbike rider has been reported after being caught travelling at almost double the speed limit in the hills this morning.

Just after 12pm, Sunday 8 November a speed camera operator detected a motorbike travelling at 158km/h in a 80km/h zone with a pillion passenger on Greenhill Road, Balhannah

The camera operator alerted Hills Patrols and the rider was intercepted on Onkaparinga Valley Road, Oakbank. Checks reveled the bike was unregistered and uninsured and the rider held a probationary licence.

The 31-year-old man from Fairview Park was reported for manner dangerous, riding an unregistered and uninsured bike and failing to carry his probationary licence. His bike was also impounded for 28 days.

Superintendent Gus Sickerdick Officer in Charge of Hills Fleurieu Local Service Area said, “this riders actions are extremely dangerous and disappointing, not only has he put his and his pillion passengers lives at risk but that of all road users. Fifteen motorbike riders have lost their lives on SA roads this year. This rider is very lucky police are not knocking on his family’s door delivering bad news.”
