Historic doors to reopen in Glass House Mountains

Bankfoot House, the Sunshine Coast’s state heritage-listed house museum, will reopen its doors again on Friday, June 19 to welcome locals and visitors to this historic property in the Glass House Mountains.

The reopening follows the Queensland Government Stage 2 easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Bankfoot House Heritage Precinct will initially reopen on Fridays only, for booked tours between 10am and 3pm. Bookings can be made for small groups with a maximum of five people per tour.

Community Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said the gradual reopening of venues and tourist attractions, such as Bankfoot House, would help to bring more people back to the iconic Glass House Mountains region.

“We all know it’s been an extremely challenging time for all those in the tourism industry during COVID-19, but now we can hopefully begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel,” Cr Baberowski said.

“Bankfoot House is a remarkable and growing, cultural heritage tourism attraction in the Glass House Mountains, and indeed in the Sunshine Coast region, so it will be fantastic to open it back up and welcome locals and visitors once again.

“When the time is right for you, I encourage everybody to take a day trip and visit Bankfoot House and also support the restaurants, cafes and local businesses in the area.”

Bankfoot House tour bookings can be made online or by phoning 5420 8600.

COVID-19 social distancing and safety measures will be in place.
