The Merlin Darwin Triple Crown will return for three days of non-stop motorsports action from 17-19 June 2022.

Next year’s program promises to be exhilarating and will include Supercars, Australian Superbikes, S5000 and Combined Sedans.

In exciting news for drags fans, the 2022 event will feature two nights of high-octane action, with Nitro Up North taking place on both Friday and Saturday night. This will include the finals of the Australian Top Fuel Championship, the fastest drag cars around.

Darwin is the only Supercars round in the country to feature the Australian Top Fuel Championship. The Top Australian Doorslammers and Sportsman Bracket will also feature.

For the first time in the event’s history, the 2022 Merlin Darwin Triple Crown will become the official Indigenous Round of the Supercars championship.

Organisers will work with Traditional Owners to deliver a Larrakia flavour for the event.

Larrakia artist Trent Lee designed the official Indigenous Round artwork, which was unveiled at the 2021 Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.

Quotes from Minister for Major Events Natasha Fyles:

“Every year the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown draws thousands of people to the Territory to soak up three days of motorsports action and our beautiful dry season weather.

“This year the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown attracted more than 38,000 attendances with the biggest program ever. Nitro Up North was particularly popular and drew a record Friday night crowd of 10,000.

“Next year we are on track to see similar results, with a program offering just as much fast-paced entertainment for all ages.”

Quotes from Supercars CEO Sean Seamer:

“The Northern Territory Major Events Company has put together a fantastic three-day program for our visit to the Top End in 2022. It will be fantastic to see thousands of fans trackside again in Darwin in June.

“Hidden Valley has a great history, and bringing to life the first official Supercars Indigenous Round will add another great element for fans.”

Quotes from Australian Top Fuel Director Andy Lopez:

“Top Fuel drag racing, Supercars, and Australian Superbikes in one event! The fastest racing on the planet on the same program as the world’s toughest circuit racing – it’s unbelievable. Whether you love motorsport on four wheels or two wheels, the only place you should be next June is at the Merlin Triple Crown in Darwin.”

Quotes from Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle:

“The NT always turns it on for the ASBK Championship. Perfect weather, friendly locals, fantastic racing on a spectator-friendly circuit; it all adds up to a great weekend. The Merlin Darwin Triple Crown event featuring Supercars and Superbikes showcases all that is great in Australian motorsport and we can’t wait to get back there after the success of 2021’s event. The ASBK teams and riders always enjoy their trips to the Top End, and it’s a rare opportunity to combine racing at the elite level with a spot of fishing or a holiday!”
