Hobart City High School leadership appointment

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Education

Hobart City High School is ready to welcome students in 2022, with Ms Deb Day appointed as the Lead Principal to oversee the implementation of the vision for the new multi-campus high school.

Ms Day was appointed following a national recruitment process, and will bring a wealth of experience to the role.

Most recently, Ms Day held principal and senior education leadership positions at Rosny College and also in Queensland.

This appointment and application process concludes the senior leadership structure for the school, including Campus Principal positions at both campuses.

In another exciting milestone, 2022 Year 7 students recently participated in school orientation to experience a taste of learning they will enjoy next year as inaugural students of Hobart City high School.

The School will build on the proud heritage and traditions of Ogilvie and New Town high schools, and will continue to foster a close partnership with Elizabeth College to deliver pathways for students from Years 7-12.

I would like to thank the community for their engagement and contribution over recent years to help shape the vision for the Hobart City High School.

The new school is part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s record investment in education infrastructure across Tasmania to help our learners thrive.

We are investing $21.6 million over the Forward Estimates so that the school’s infrastructure enables our young people to achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
