The hottest ticket in Tinseltown is up for grabs with bookings now open for Townsville City Council’s Golden Age of Hollywood-themed Seniors Luncheon.
The free event is a highlight on Townsville’s yearly social calendar, regularly attracting hundreds of residents aged 65 and over across two massive days at Annandale’s Townsville Stadium.
This year’s events run on Thursday 20 August and Friday 21 August as part of the statewide Seniors Week, celebrating and honouring Townsville’s older residents. Seniors Week will also herald in the return of the free Seniors Expo, which will run at Townsville Stadium on Tuesday 18 August.
Mayor Nick Dametto said the event was a highlight each year and provided a chance for senior locals to form new connections.
“We know how important relationships are in creating a strong and resilient community, which is why Council is proud to bring the Seniors Luncheon back for another year,” Cr Dametto said.
“This free event gives our senior residents the chance to catch up with old friends and make a few new ones, all while enjoying a sit-down lunch and entertainment.
“Everyone heading along should put on their dancing shoes because this year’s event will include special live performances by Townsville’s very own 1 RAR Band for both days of the Seniors Luncheon.
“Because this event is so popular, I’d highly recommend booking your free tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”
