Homelessness Week runs from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 August, raising awareness of homelessness and the action needed to ensure everyone has a safe and secure place to live.
Rough sleeping is increasing in Yarra, with the number of people recorded as sleeping rough rising from 54 in April 2025 to 67 in July 2025.
These figures were collected through Yarra Zero, a local partnership working to end rough sleeping homelessness by coordinating support for people sleeping rough.

Visit Council’s Homelessness Week stall at Gleadell Street Market on Saturday 1 August from 8am to 12 noon.
At the stall, you can:
- learn how to refer a rough sleeping site through Council’s online reporting tool
- find out about local support services for people experiencing homelessness
- meet representatives from Launch Housing, who will share information about their new Access Point on Bridge Road
- pick up a Help Locally guide to nearby meals, laundry services, showers, health care and housing support
- fold, draw on or write a message on an origami house as part of a Homelessness Week community display and Houses at Parliament campaign.
The Help Locally guide provides practical information for people without a home or secure housing, including where to access essential services and speak with a housing and support worker.
