A homicide investigation is underway following the death of a man in Dargaville.
Police were called to Hoeroa Street at around 2.40pm yesterday after a man was found deceased at a residential address.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer, Whangārei CIB, says an investigation is now in the early stages to determine the full circumstances around what has occurred.
“A scene guard has been established and will remain in place while a scene examination is conducted.
“A post-mortem examination and formal identification of the victim will be carried out over the coming days.”
Residents can expect to see an increased Police presence in the area while the investigation continues.
“We know this incident will be unsettling for the community. Police want to reassure residents that a dedicated team of investigators is working to establish exactly what happened and who is involved,” Detective Senior Sergeant Pilmer says.
Police would like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist our enquiries.
