Homicide Squad detectives charge man over Mt Pritchard murder, NSW

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder following an investigation into the death of another man in Sydney’s south west last year.

Emergency services were called to a home on Young Street, Mt Pritchard, about 7.50am on Wednesday 30 October 2019, after reports of a disturbance earlier in the morning.

Officers found the body of 35-year-old resident, Tuan Tran, in the backyard of the home.

A post mortem examination was inconclusive; however, he had suffered head injuries and lacerations.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Hedland to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 39-year-old man at a home at Cabramatta just after 6am today (Wednesday 27 May 2020).

The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with murder and aggravated break and enter (commit serious indictable offence).

Police will allege in court that the man was the driver of a Honda CRV seen arriving at and leaving the Mt Pritchard home at the time of the incident in October last year.

He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 27 May 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Hedland continue.
