Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder after a man was killed, and four others injured in a shooting in Sydney’s south west earlier this year.
About 8.30pm on Tuesday 19 May 2026, police were called to Liverpool Hospital, following reports two men – aged 28 and 32 – had presented with multiple wounds.
The 28-year-old underwent treatment for a gunshot injury; however, died a short time later.
The other man was in a serious but stable condition and treated at hospital for a neck injury.
About 8.40pm, two other men – aged 23 and 22 – presented to Fairfield Hospital in serious conditions. Both men were moved to different hospitals for further treatment.
The 23-year-old was treated for a gunshot injury to his neck, and the 22-year-old treated for a shoulder injury.
About 9.50pm, a 19-year-old man presented to Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his arm.
Following inquiries, police established a crime scene at a home on Arbutus Street, Canley Heights, where it’s alleged the shooting took place.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced an investigation, before the matter was handed to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad under Strike Force Valko.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.30pm on Saturday 25 July 2026, strike force detectives arrested a 23-year-old man at Sydney International Airport before taking him to Mascot Police Station.
About 11.20pm the same day, strike force detectives – with assistance from Public Order and Riot Squad – executed a search warrant at a home on Church Street, Moorebank.
During the search, police allegedly seized electronic devices and about 10g of cocaine.
The 23-year-old man was charged with murder and two counts of possess unauthorised pistol.
He was refused bail and appeared at Bail Division Local Court 7 yesterday (Sunday 26 July 2026), where he was formally refused bail to return to Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 17 September 2026.
Investigations under Strike Force Valko are ongoing.
