Homicide Squad detectives have charged a second man with murder after a man was shot dead and four others injured in a shooting in Sydney’s south west earlier this year.
About 8.30pm on Tuesday 19 May 2026, police were called to Liverpool Hospital, following reports two men – aged 28 and 32 – had presented with multiple wounds.
The 28-year-old underwent treatment for a gunshot injury; however, died a short time later.
The other man was in a serious but stable condition and treated at hospital for a neck injury.
About 8.40pm, two other men – aged 23 and 22 – presented to Fairfield Hospital in serious conditions. Both men were moved to different hospitals for further treatment.
The 23-year-old was treated for a gunshot injury to his neck, and the 22-year-old treated for a shoulder injury.
About 9.50pm, a 19-year-old man presented to Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his arm.
Police established a crime scene at a home on Arbutus Street, Canley Heights, where it’s alleged the shooting took place.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced an investigation, before the matter was handed to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad under Strike Force Valko.
A 23-year-old man has since been charged and remains before the courts.
Following further extensive inquiries, about 10.40am yesterday (Tuesday 22 September 2026) strike force detectives arrested a 37-year-old man in Silverwater.
He was charged with murder, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
The 37-year-old man was remanded in custody to appear at Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Wednesday 23 September 2026).
Investigations under Strike Force Valko are ongoing.
