Horizon Festival wins Australian Event Award

The 2017 Sunshine Coast Horizon Festival notched up another win when it was awarded the Best Achievement in Marketing, Communication or Sponsorship at the annual Australian Event Awards held at the Novotel Twin Waters on November 21.

More than 300 people from across the country celebrated the best-of-the-best in Australian events at this awards night.

The Best Achievement in Marketing, Communication or Sponsorship award took into consideration the style of campaigns, strategies, innovation, partnerships, challenges overcome, environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Arts Portfolio Cr Rick Baberowski said winning this award was fantastic industry recognition for the Horizon Festival.

“To be named a finalist, and to win the award, alongside other strongly branded finalists including the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games sponsorship program and the Cellarmasters Touring Cellar Door, is a really satisfying achievement,” Cr Baberowski said.

“Our council is very proud of this region’s staff, artists and producers who were involved in promoting what is becoming a signature event for the Sunshine Coast.

“Horizon Festival has been well and truly embraced by locals and visitors to our region since it began in 2016, which is the acid test of the marketing and communication campaign and the quality of programming presented during the festival.

“To take-out the national award in front of a home-crowd was a real bonus and a great way to celebrate our healthy, smart, creative region.

“The recognition is testament to our rapidly growing arts industry and will provide great exposure for Horizon Festival into the future.”
