Hornsby Shire Council is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the Community Event Grants Program, with close to $30,000 on offer for events in the local community.

Not-for-profit organisations located within the Hornsby Local Government Area (LGA) are encouraged to apply for funding that will be made available to support local community events.

The objective of the Community Event Grants Program is to promote active participation of residents in community initiatives, and to encourage community-based organisations to develop and run sustainable events in the Shire.

Hornsby Shire Council Mayor Philip Ruddock said Council remains committed to supporting local events, which will ensure residents feel engaged and connected in the community.

“I encourage local not-for-profit organisations in the area to apply for this financial assistance on offer. This initiative reinforces the importance of a rich community spirit for Council. I am very excited to see these events come together,” said Mayor Ruddock.

$29,638 will be available through a Place Activation Grant funding pool. Cash funding, in kind support and sponsorship are available up to a total value of $3,000 per annum, per applicant organisation. These grants are designed to be a one-off only. Events must be held prior to 30 June 2024.

Previous recipients of the Community Grants Program include the likes of the Berowra Fauna Fair and Chinese Australia Services Society Migrants Information Day.
