Hotel robbery suspect arrested, South Australia

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch have arrested a man following two armed robberies at hotels at Beverley and West Croydon.

Just after 6.30pm on Monday 16 March, four men armed with crow bars and a knife allegedly threatened staff at a hotel bottle-shop on Port Road at Beverley and assaulted a female staff member. The men fled with cash and bottles of alcohol in a stolen Holden SUV.

The injured woman received a cut to the head and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

A few minutes later, the same armed group of men allegedly threatened staff at a hotel on Torrens Road, West Croydon and stole cash from the bottle-shop. They again fled in the stolen Holden SUV.

The stolen Holden was found abandoned at Renown Park later that night.

Detectives yesterday arrested and charged a 43-year-old man from Ottoway with two counts of aggravated theft using force and illegal use. He was also charged over an aggravated theft at a bottle shop at Ridleyton.

The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today. (CO2000012615)

A 33-year-old man from no fixed address was arrested on 25 March over both incidents. He will reappear again in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 13 November. (CO2000011126)
