Household Chemical CleanOut weekend

MidCoast Council

MidCoast households have an opportunity for free and safe disposal of their dangerous chemicals and poisons at Tuncurry and Taree – but only on the 12-13 March weekend.

“Household cleaners, pesticides and herbicides, poisons and motor fuels cannot be disposed of in any waste bin. These items must be disposed at a CleanOut event such as this one,” explained Mr David Rees, Manager of Waste Service at MidCoast Council.

“Chemicals and poisons are hazardous items to store and handle. This is why the Environmental Protection Agency run these free Chemical CleanOut events across NSW.”

This collection will occur over two days at the following locations:

Saturday 12 March, 8.30am – 3.30pm

Taree Waste Management Centre

6843 The Bucketts Way, Tinonee

Sunday 13 March, 8.30am – 3.30pm

Tuncurry Waste Management Centre

Midge Orchid Road (formerly Tip Road), Tuncurry

Other items, that cannot go in any waste bin, can also be dropped off for free. These include fluorescent globes, acids, smoke detectors, gas bottles, fire extinguishers as well as car and household batteries.

Only household quantities (a maximum of 20kg or 20 litres per item) will be accepted.

This service follows NSW Government advice and protocols. Before you attend a Chemical CleanOut event, please place all materials in a leak-proof tub, in the rear of your vehicle. On arrival, remain in your vehicle and our contractor will collect your items. Contractors onsite will be wearing personal protective equipment and following social distancing measures.
