Council is pleased to have adopted its Housing and Settlement Strategy at the 14 December Council Meeting.

Thank you to all community members who provided feedback on the Draft Strategy. Based on the feedback we received from you, we made a number of changes to the Strategy, which was presented to Council for endorsement.

Councillors unanimously voted to adopt the Housing and Settlement Strategy and endorse it for inclusion in the Murrindindi Planning Scheme as part of our next Planning Scheme Review.

The Housing and Settlement Strategy provides a level of certainty for landowners and developers that there is a commitment from Council in recognising the need for more housing.

The strategy provides an insight into the gaps in the types of accommodation needed, reflects Council’s commitment to sustainability and sets an implementation plan to assist in developing our towns and working with landowners.
