Huge crowds turn out for 2019 Canberra Memory Walk & Jog
An impressive 550 people turned out today for the annual Canberra Memory Walk & Jog event at Lake Burley Griffin, Barrine Drive.
Dementia Australia Acting CEO Leanne Emerson said it was a wonderful event and extended her thanks to everyone who participated, raised funds or donated.
“We are thrilled with the fantastic turn out and enormous levels of support and community spirit demonstrated at today’s Memory Walk & Jog event,” Ms Emerson said.
Ms Emerso also acknowledged everyone who volunteered at the event.
“I would like to thank our MC Takaya Honda for generously giving up his time to host the event, along with the local Canberra community and our many volunteers for ensuring the event ran safely and smoothly,” Ms McCabe said.
“It simply would not have been possible to host this Memory Walk & Jog event without their support.
“I would also like to thank those who raised funds and those who donated to such a great cause. It is wonderful to see so many people support us in this way and we are very grateful for their generosity.”
The event saw attendees take part in either a 2km, 5km or 10km and walk, jog or run, raising $58,000 to support the work of Dementia Australia, which provides invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends.
