Get set for a huge weekend of festivities in Kempsey’s Riverside Park this weekend. The fun kicks off with the Big Day Out on Friday 1 December followed by the Kempsey Twilight Christmas Markets and the Spirit of the Macleay Dragon Boat Regatta.
To celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) Kempsey’s Riverside Park will again play host to the Big Day Out an inclusive event that the whole community is invited attend. Let’s come together to raise awareness and break down barriers, recognising the valuable contributions people with disabilities make within our community. With a silent disco, inflatable jumping castle, obstacle course, photo booth, face painting, and sensory activities and more this is an incredible accessible and free event for all.
Then get into the spirit of Christmas on Saturday 2 December with a visit to the annual Twilight Christmas Market (Kempsey Riverside Markets) which will include loads of kid’s activities, a visit from Santa and plenty of entertainment, food stalls and Christmas gifting ideas.
Down on the river you will find the Spirit of the Macleay Dragon Boat Regatta. The Kempsey River Rats are pumped to be hosting this event again this year. Held across both Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 December everyone in the community invited to come along and cheer on the teams racing.
Saturday’s race events will include for sport teams the popular 1km team pursuit race, as well as the fast-paced 100 metre dash. A new and exciting novelty race will be trialled for Dragon Men. Nothing but pure grunt to be seen here!
Sunday’s racing will be the competitive 200 metre & 500-metre sprints for sport teams, Women’s 20’s & 10’s, Mixed 20’s and Open 10’s.
