More jobs and increased economic growth have arrived in Hume City with the opening of the M80 industrial estate in Campbellfield on Wednesday 17 April.

Sitting within nearly a nearly nine-hectare site on Bolinda Road, the $116million estate is made up of five modern industrial warehouses to service Hume’s growing industrial sector, and currently includes tenants in the global logistics and power infrastructure fields.

More than 50% of the facility’s space has been leased since the facility’s practical completion in 2023.

The development has seen another jobs boom in Hume, creating more than 600 jobs in the construction phase, and roughly 280 ongoing jobs anticipated once fully occupied.

Hume was chosen as an ideal location by M80 Connect Owner Centuria, Australia’s largest listed pure-play industrial fund, due to its reputation for world class logistics infrastructure and being a strong performer in the industrial market.

Our city’s proximity to the Melbourne CBD, Port of Melbourne, Hume Freeway and Tullamarine Airport have continued to attract the eye of major importers and exporters, signalling strong prospects for our local economy.

The opening of M80 Connect follows other big additions to Hume’s logistics landscape including Amazon’s largest Australian warehouse in Craigieburn, and the North Melbourne Logistics Estate, also in Campbellfield.

The north of our city remains in high demand with vacancies currently around 0.8 per cent, and ongoing developments adding to the ever-increasing industrial enterprise within the Hume area.

M80 Connect’s sustainability initiatives, including electric vehicle charging stations, 350kw solar systems, and rainwater harvesting, support Hume City Council’s Live Green plan 2021-2026.

Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor Cr Naim Kurt:

“Centuria’s commitment to Campbellfield underscores the strategic location Hume City Council holds for businesses, as a gateway to major freight terminals, highways and the Tullamarine Airport.

“The M80 Connect development is a strong endorsement of the work Hume City Council is leading in supporting investment and job creation and we look forward to working with Centuria to maximise the opportunity for local employment.”
