Identity thief purchases car

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following the theft of a vehicle using finance in Bundoora this month.

Detectives have been told a woman entered a car dealership on Grimshaw Street about 10.30am on 4 May.

She used a modified driver’s licence and stolen identity details to purchase a $42,000 VW Golf on finance.

The stolen identity details have also been used to make disaster relief claims and attempts have been made to obtain finance from numerous other financial institutions.

The offender is described as approximately 35-45-years-old, long brown hair with dyed-blonde streaks or extensions, medium build.

She was wearing black high heels, black dress or skirt, black top and a black overcoat with a fur lined hood.

She also had an ID lanyard around her neck.
