ILA funding round extended

Indigenous languages and arts funding applications.

The submission of grant applications will be extended until 30 June 2020 for the Indigenous Languages and Arts (ILA) 2020-21 Open Competitive Grant Opportunity.

With COVID-19 measures affecting Australia’s arts and cultural sector it may be difficult for Indigenous languages and arts organisations to progress their application at this time.

We know how important language, art and culture are to individual wellbeing and a sense of identity and community for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Therefore we are extending the closing date for applications for community-based organisations which preserve, promote and celebrate cultural expression though Indigenous languages and arts until the end of the financial year.

ILA program funding is vital for revitalising and maintaining our Indigenous languages and ensuring artists can produce and perform a diverse range of traditional and contemporary cultural expression.

The Government invests around $20 million annually through the ILA program to promote participation in, and maintenance of, Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through languages and arts.

The guidelines and link to the application form are available on the GrantConnect website.
