Colac Crime Investigation Unit, with the assistance of members from Forrest uniform and VIPER Taskforce, conducted a targeted operation across Forrest and Colac as part of an investigation into the illicit tobacco trade.
Search warrants were executed at two premises, resulting in the seizure of approximately 10,000 suspected illicit cigarettes, 800 grams of loose tobacco and approximately $10,000 in cash.
As part of the operation, a hotel in Forrest was issued with a 90-day closure order under Victoria’s strengthened illicit tobacco laws. A second business was issued a warning regarding its obligations under the legislation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
