Image of Blair Athol suspect released, South Australia

Special Crime Detectives investigating the sexual assault of a girl at Blair Athol last week have release a computer generated image of the suspect.

Sometime between 5pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday 3 April, police were called to the reserve which forms part of the Blair Athol Sport Community Club, off Leslie Avenue after reports a man approached a 10-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her in the public toilets.

The suspect is described as an Afghan male, approximately 30 to 50-years-old, with dark hair with a fringe that partially covered his forehead. He was believed to be wearing a grey top, peach shorts and in company with two girls aged between 3 and 5.

Police believe other people were in the vicinity of the reserve at the time of the assault including playing sport, who may have witnessed something unusual or a person acting suspiciously.

Detectives investigating the incident are hoping the image of the suspect may prompt further information from the public to help identify him.

Police have recorded a message in Hazaragi/Dari to appeal directly to the Afghan community who may be able to assist in the matter.
