Images released over stabbing at Newtown, NSW

Police have released images of a man as investigations continue into an assault and stabbing in Sydney’s Inner West.

About 6pm on Friday 6 September 2019, a 38-year-old woman was out with friends in Bedford Street, Newtown, when she was confronted by a man not known to her.

The man began to argue with the woman before assaulting her several times and stabbing her in the ribs.

The woman entered the nearby Newtown Police Station before she was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment. She has since been released.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation.

Investigators have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He has been described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 175cm tall, of an athletic build and aged in his early 20s.
