The City of Casey is pleased to announce that new grandstands have been erected at the Hunt Club Recreation Reserve in Cranbourne East – home of the Casey Thunder Women’s Football Club – enhancing the spectator experience.
On Thursday 11 June, City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and Deputy Mayor Cr Michelle were joined by Pauline Richards MP, players, coaches and club representatives to celebrate the new seating.
As part of the project, two three-tier grandstands were constructed, providing seating for approximately 80 people. Six additional bench seats have been installed around the oval, and two accessible wheelchair bays have been marked on the pavilion veranda adjacent to the grandstands.
Casey Thunder play in Division 1 and Division 3 of the Southern Football Netball League. Since its establishment in 2019, the club has emerged as a strong competitor, securing the Division One premiership in 2023.
Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said, “Local sporting clubs play a vital role in bringing our community together. This new seating creates a more inclusive and welcoming environment for friends, families and supporters to come along and support local women’s football.”
Delivered in partnership with the Victorian State Government, the project was supported by a $25,000 Community Sport and Recreation Projects Grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, along with a $2,564 contribution from Council.
