Improving Fremantle’s Samson Park For Nature

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Australian Government is investing more than $1.7 million to improve bushland and wildlife areas within Samson Park, Fremantle’s largest natural park.

The funding will support important drainage upgrades to:

  • reduce impacts from seasonal flooding
  • help keep the park healthy for the future.

The project will be delivered by the City of Fremantle, and will include:

  • building safe and accessible paths to make it easier for the community to access Samson Park
  • creating a seasonal wetland to manage drainage
  • upgrading and realigning stormwater drains
  • planting more native plants.

The project is funded through the Australian Government’s Local Environmental Projects Program. The program supports community projects that protect and improve Australia’s natural environment and heritage.
