Improving household energy efficiency

Elise Archer,Acting Minister for Environment, Parks and Heritage

Despite Tasmania’s low cost, reliable clean energy market being the envy of the nation, some Tasmanian families struggle to make ends meet when it comes to paying their power bill.

To assist low income households with saving money on their power bills by reducing energy usage, the Government has awarded Tasmanian business COVA with the contract to oversee our Power$mart Homes program.

COVA will deliver the $850,000 program to help low income households stay warm, save money and contribute to reducing emissions.

Participating households will receive a range of free high-quality upgrades, including LED lighting, efficient shower heads, hot water insulation and draught sealing.

The program is expected to launch later in the year, and will be open to eligible low income Tasmanian households.
