Improving the Territory’s town asset

The Northern Territory Government is continuing to improve visitor experiences in the NT with grants for five regional and town councils.
It is part of the Tourism Town Asset Program, which aims to enhance and improve main streets and town centres for the benefit of visitors.
More than $347,000 has been awarded, with additional contributions from councils the five projects total value is $480,000.
City of Darwin will undertake several projects including creating an online ‘Accessible Darwin Platform’, featuring information on Darwin’s accessible services, digital assets sharing Larrakia culture and installation of artwork to public restrooms along the Nightcliff foreshore.
Wagait Shire Council will resurface their outdoor sports courts and install 9 solar lights at Cloppenburg Park and Council Memorial Gardens at Wagait Beach.
The West Arnhem Regional Council will install a flying fox at the Jabiru Lake Precinct for families to enjoy, while Katherine Town Council will install a public EV charging station near the CBD.
In the Central Australia region the Central Desert Regional Council will undertake a visitor information signage project at both the northern and southern entrances to Ti Tree.
This is the second round of the Tourism Town Asset Program which aims to deliver benefits to the Territory’s regions and improve our destinations for visitors.
