‘In our nature’ to connect and celebrate this Seniors Festival – Wollongong

The annual Seniors Festival begins today [Tuesday 13 April] with an array of events, workshops, and programs to celebrate our community’s older people and their valuable contribution.

From 13 to 24 April, Council and local organisations around Wollongong will provide many opportunities for our seniors to try new experiences, learn new skills and actively participate in the community.

This year’s activities are themed around ‘In our nature’, reflecting on the celebration of life and growth. It is ‘In our nature’ to connect with one another, whether it is online or in person, and this festival will create a safe space to do so.

“Council has proudly promoted this event for more than 35 years. As a state-wide celebration, it’s definitely a wonderful festival to be part of,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“Our older people provide a valuable wealth of knowledge and wisdom to our community and it’s important we recognise and celebrate their role.

“The festival will be an exciting ten days with more than 50 events and activities. Our seniors can explore their creative side and sign up to a writer’s workshop, get social at a luncheon, move their bodies with Zumba in the Park or sharpen their skills with technology,

“And the best part is, while getting connected with the local community and environment, new friendships are formed. I encourage our older people to get involved and check out what’s on offer as there is something for everyone”
