Operation Summer Foreshore will see increased police patrols on land and water across Brighton-Le-Sands, Lady Robinsons Beach, the Grand Parade and surrounding waterways from 3 October to 31 January, targeting anti-social behaviour, dangerous driving and unsafe boating.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall attended the launch of Operation Summer Foreshore on Monday 28 September together with Local Member for Rockdale Steve Kamper, NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley and members of the St George Police Area Command.
Ahead of the campaign, a high-visibility police operation at Brighton-Le-Sands on 26 September recorded no major incidents. Officers from St George Police Area Command, Marine Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol, and the High-Visibility Policing Unit will work together to keep the area safe over summer.
Police will focus on community engagement, traffic enforcement and crime prevention, while Marine Area Command officers will target unsafe behaviour on Botany Bay, including reckless jet-ski use, with proactive patrols, safety inspections and drug and alcohol testing. Authorities warned anti-social behaviour on the water will not be tolerated.
