Indecent treatment charges at Gold Coast

Investigators from Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a woman with 77 offences relating to the indecent treatment of a child, and are appealing for information regarding any possible further crimes.

In February 2023, a woman made a complaint to police regarding alleged indecent treatment when she was a teenager, by a woman who was known to her.

It will be alleged that the woman met the girl through a Gold Coast education facility.

It will be further alleged that the woman had contact with the girl inside and outside a Gold Coast school on numerous occasions from around June 2015 to July 2016, when the woman is alleged to have committed the offences.

On July 5, police charged a 32-year-old Hope Island woman with 75 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and one count each of grooming and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

She is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on August 2.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with information, or interactions of a similar nature, to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
