Open to junior doctors and final year medical students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, or Māori, the respective awards and grants facilitate attendance at the 2024 ASC to be held in Christchurch, or support surgical career pathways.
These annual awards follow the attendance of previous award recipients at the ASC held at the Adelaide Convention Centre in May 2023, who familiarised themselves with the surgical profession and forged connections integral to their surgical career aspirations.
Altogether, Indigenous scholarships form an integral part of RACS’ commitment to Indigenous health. They are part of a suite of initiatives that continue to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and Maori, prevocational doctors who want to pursue a career in surgery in the future.
