Industrial inspectors visit employers in South-West

WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety

In March, Private Sector Labour Relations industrial inspectors conducted a proactive compliance campaign in the South-West region of WA.

Industrial inspectors visited almost 70 businesses in Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River.

The campaign focused on inspecting businesses with known high levels of non-compliance, such as cafes and restaurants, hairdressers and beauty salons.

Private Sector Labour Relations is responsible for ensuring all businesses in the state system comply with the legal obligations regarding pay rates, leave entitlements and the legislative requirements to keep correct employment records.

During the campaign, inspectors talked to busness owners and employees, inspected available employment records and issued notices requiring businesses to provide employment records for assessment.

Following the completion of the campaign, employers will be notified of the findings. If any alleged breaches of state employment laws are identified, employers will be requested to rectify the alleged breaches to ensure compliance.
