Industry leader joins Gold Coast Hospital and Health Board

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services The Honourable Yvette D'Ath

A senior executive with experience in the medical device industry, community affairs and the not-for-profit sector has been appointed to the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Board.

Karen Murphy is the newest member of the 10-person board and joins reappointed members Teresa Dyson, Michael Kinnane and Lucas Patchett OAM for terms of four years each.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said Ms Murphy has vast experience in leadership roles, especially within the corporate medical industry.

“I’d like to welcome her to the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Board,” Ms D’Ath said.

“Ms Murphy has held multiple senior executive roles over the past 20 years across government, not for profit and publicly listed companies, including the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Sonotron and the Organ and Tissue Authority.

“She has also been on previous boards including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Emergency Medicine Foundation and Spinal Injuries Association.”

“I know she will work hard to ensure Gold Coast residents continue to receive excellent health services.”
